Barcelona are simply refusing to give up on their pursuit of Julian Alvarez despite it looking very unlikely that Atletico Madrid will negotiate this summer.

It is almost like the Catalan club cannot take no for an answer this summer, especially when it comes to their dream striker signing.

Alvarez had a word with Atletico’s sporting director Mateu Alemany , where it was made very clear to him that the Barça door is closed this summer.

Despite all this, according to SPORT , Barcelona are refusing to give up on the 26-year-old, with Hansi Flick and Deco determined to wait for him.

Flick and Deco want Julian or nobody else

There are figures within Barcelona’s board who believe the club should accelerate the search for a No. 9 or activate an alternative plan.

Flick and Deco, however, remain united behind Alvarez and are prepared to give the situation more time.

Alvarez is the striker Flick wants to complete his attack, and Deco shares the coach’s conviction that waiting is currently preferable to spending significant money on a second-choice option.

Barcelona also believe developments on the player’s side could eventually force Atletico to reconsider their refusal to negotiate.

The report claims Alvarez feels misled by Atletico because he believed there was an understanding that the club would facilitate a departure under certain conditions.
