The San Francisco 49ers on Sunday opened training camp with star defensive end Nick Bosa in uniform and participating in practice.
General manager John Lynch on Saturday told reporters the club will ease Bosa into action after Bosa tore his ACL in Week 3 last season. That Bosa didn't start the season on the injured list was a great sign, but the real test was going to be in how he moved on the field.
Checking the boxes of mobility without pads was going to be the first step in camp and the early videos from the team facility at Sunday's practice provide optimism that Bosa will be a full go by the time the regular season starts on Sept. 10 in Melbourne, Australia.
The Athletic's Matt Barrows had video of Bosa going through warmups:

— Cam Inman (@CamInman) July 26, 2026 ESPN's Nick Wagoner also posted some footage of how Bosa was moving in practice with a note about what left tackle Trent Williams had to say about his defensive counterpart:
Here’s a look at #49ers DE Nick Bosa as he goes through some warmups today. OT Trent Williams says he could hardly tell Bosa suffered a serious injury and looks better than he did before last year’s injury… pic.twitter.com/LBw27di7u8
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) July 26, 2026 " I see him every day ," Williams said via Inman. "I can’t tell he had an injury and came back from anything. Most people with an injury that catastrophic, you can see it with something, like with atrophy in leg. Bosa looks better than he did before he got hurt.”
These are still just early practices so we can't really draw any big picture conclusions. However, seeing Bosa on the field and moving at all was the best we the 49ers could hope for at this point. The real test will be how Bosa responds the day after practices, and then how he functions when the pads are on and the reps are live.
