Sun Sign Former USC Center to Developmental Contract

Marshall was playing on a seven-day hardship contract with the Sun this month. Connecticut waived her on Saturday in a corresponding move to signing Ashlon Jackson to a rest-of-season contract. But the Sun quickly signed Marshall to the developmental deal, allowing her to stay with the franchise.

In just two games with the Sun this season, Marshall has scored one point and collected two rebounds in games against the Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream.

The Sun traded Marshall to the Wings ahead of the 2026 season. The Wings ultimately waived Marshall, so she did not play in a regular season game with Dallas. Then on Aug. 1, the Sun called Marshall asking her to rejoin the team on a seven-day contract.

Marshall said she was happy to be back playing with the Sun.

"Man, it’s awesome, honestly,” Marshall said, per IX Sports. “A lot of love from the staff, even the players. A lot of new faces, but everyone is keeping me happy … with the love and support. Also a lot of the plays look very familiar, too. A lot of new bodies, but for the most part, like I said, just staying mentally on top of it.”

Marshall was a rookie on the Sun last season after Connecticut drafted her out of USC with the No. 25 overall pick in 2025. She saw limited minutes on the court, averaging just six minutes per game in 15 games.

"I’m just happy that she’s back," Sun center Olivia Nelson-Ododa said, per IX Sports. "She just brings such a joy for the team. Just great energy. She’s so positive, and she’s great for our locker room. Great to be on the court with. And, I mean, her presence alone is just really great to hear from.”
