TCU football is moving closer to its 2026 season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29. As the Countdown to Kickoff continues, we’ll highlight a former Horned Frog whose jersey number coincided with the number of days remaining until the opener. At No. 33 is former TCU running back Kendre Miller!
A three-star recruit out of high school, Miller averaged 7.2 yards per carry his freshman year, fifth-best in team history. Rotating with Zach Evans, Miller ran for 388 yards and two touchdowns on only 54 carries. He took a step forward as a sophomore, going for 623 yards and seven touchdowns on 83 carries and averaging a career-best 7.5 yards per carry. Evans left TCU after the 2021 season, when the program parted with Gary Patterson.
As the No. 1 back, Miller erupted onto the scene in 2022. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. He rumbled for a career-high 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns on 224 carries (6.4 yards per carry) and was a major contributor in the team’s 13-2 record and run to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Miller was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Injuries have hampered his professional career, as he’s mustered only 497 rushing yards and three touchdowns in 21 games over three seasons with the Saints. He’s entering his fourth professional season this year, but is now behind the returning Alvin Kamara and newcomer Travis Etienne Jr., on the depth chart.
