Any way possible I can help this team achieve the goal we set out in spring training, the goal every team sets out to achieve. If I can help us achieve it, I don't really care what the role is."
Crochet has done something similar in the past, having pitched in small bursts out of the bullpen in 2023 following his return from Tommy John surgery in 2022.
The Red Sox have finally started to see their ace get back into the swing of things, as he began a flat-ground throwing program for the first time in three months on Tuesday.
“He’s been down a while, so we’re in the very infant stages of like very short (throws),” Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said. “But he did have a ball in his hand and was throwing it, which is good. So he’s probably going to be in that really short range throwing right now and then we’ll move him along as he goes.”
