The Oklahoma Sooners have made two changes to their 2027 football schedule.
The Sooners will now open the season against the Utah State Aggies on Aug. 28 at home. They have also moved their game against the SMU Mustangs up a week, with the two now set to play on Sept. 4 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
It will be the sixth meeting between Oklahoma and Utah State, with the Sooners hosting and winning the previous five matchups. They have outscored them 261-51 in the series, scoring 40 or more points in all but one of the games. Their meeting in 2010 was much closer than normal, with the Sooners pulling out a 31-24 victory.
The Sooners have also controlled the series against SMU, leading it 6-1-1. The two last met in 2023, with Oklahoma winning 28-11 in Norman. This time they will be meeting in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, a place the Sooners have historically played well.
Oklahoma is 6-2 at the stadium, winning their last five games. It will be SMU's first time playing at the home of the Cowboys in more than 40 years.
With the addition of Utah State to the schedule, Oklahoma now has just one non-conference opening in the 2027 season. The Sooners will play SEC games against the Alabama Crimson Tide , Arkansas Razorbacks, Missouri Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers at home, and the Texas Longhorns (in Dallas), Auburn Tigers , LSU Tigers , Ole Miss Rebels, and Vanderbilt Commodores on the road.
