Liverpool now willing to let ‘special’ star leave soon

There's now under a month left of the summer transfer window.

Most people thought that Liverpool would have been one of the busiest teams in the Premier League after their massive failure last term but, in reality, only two players have been signed this summer.

Of course, Jeremy Jacquet has also been brought in but, his move was agreed in January so technically, he isn't a summer transfer.

And, while all of these players being brought in is definitely a step in the right direction, it's clear that a lot more change is still needed at Anfield for them to become genuine contenders again.

Several players are still being linked with Liverpool moves but, at the moment, none of those deals feel like they're in advanced positions or even close to being sealed.

Despite this, their lack of depth clearly isn't worrying them that much as the Reds are now willing to let a member of their first team squad go.

Liverpool are open to offers for Wataru Endo

The main area of Liverpool's team that has plenty of depth at the moment is their midfield.

Obviously, Dominik Szoboszlai , Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will be Andoni Iraola's main options for the centre of the park but, if Curtis Jones and Trey Nyoni both stay put, they'll have six solid options among their ranks to choose from.

This is without even Stefan Bajcetic, James McConnell and Wataru Endo even being seen as options.

So, Liverpool now being willing to get rid of Endo makes a lot of sense, especially since he's 34 years old and will be coming back from a major injury.

"Liverpool are open to offers for Wataru Endo before the close of the window and have made clubs aware of his availability," journalist Pete O'Rourke shared via his personal X account .

Although injuries massively impacted Liverpool's season last term, it does feel like Endo could be a worthy sacrifice .

The Japan international has had a fair few solid games during his time with the Reds but, more often than not, the mistakes he's made have cost them dearly.

His versatility is also one of the best things about him but, when used as a centre-back or a right-back, it's clear that he's much more comfortable when used in the centre of the park.

And, the fact that Endo is now 34 years old with his contract also expiring in June 2027 means that an exit could definitely be on the cards.

It would leave Liverpool without a senior back-up for Gravenberch in defensive-midfield but, with McConnell and Bajcetic potentially featuring in Iraola's plans, they could easily fill the gap left by the former Stuttgart man.

Obviously, nobody knows what the future has in store for Liverpool but, with the " special " midfielder now being linked with a move away, it's clear that plenty of change could still be on the way to L4.
