South Side Sox Reacts: Noah moves on, if he must

This week was a challenging Reacts poll for South Side Sox readers, in that it asked you to choose a player from the rookie corps you’d be most comfortable with dealing away. Over at The Feed, where the voting is now hosted, there was more than one comment akin to “no one” — with support ranging from it not quite being Chicago’s time for a World Series run yet to it’s just too early to give up on any blue-ribbon member of the core.

But “none of the above” was not an option, thus we have results on who among the 2026 rookies you’re most likely to trade away in a deal that helps the White Sox today and/or in the long term:

There’s no doubt that merely taking into account 2026 results, Noah Schultz is the answer. Of course, there are many variables in a potential trade (which presumes a fair/immediate-help return), most mindfully Schultz’s youth and nagging knee injury.

The national survey questions fell back into more a grab-bag style. The first involved the Hall of Fame prospects for a White Sox menace:

Personally, it seems like Grandpa Verlander is a jerk, and maybe even worse words given his pointed and ridiculous criticism of Tim Anderson years back. But that doesn’t ignore the reality of his greatness, which absolutely merits enshrinement.

With Verlander being the closest active pitcher to 300 wins but almost assuredly falling short of the milestone, the next query was a tried-and-true lament:

With the changes in baseball from the olden days of spitting on injuries and rubbing dirt on them so that starting pitchers could take the ball every fourth day and pitch a minimum of nine innings, it does seem like pitcher-win milestones must change. Is the new standard 250, 200? Do we just shift to WAR, or an ERA-innings combo for starters? Generations ahead of us will have to solve it.
