As the Denver Broncos wrapped up their first week of on-field work, there is a lot to be excited about. There are also some kinks that need to be ironed out before the regular season begins in September.
We take a look at five takeaways from Day 2 of training camp on Saturday.
5 takeaways from Day 2 of Broncos training camp:
1) Marvin Mims may be a legitimate offensive threat in 2026: In two days of camp, Mims has had several big catches for touchdowns from both Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix. Previously, coach Sean Payton had trouble utilizing Mims in a consistent, meaningful way on offense. Mims' role in offensive coordinator Davis Webb's game plan seems to point toward more usage for the third-year wide receiver and special teams ace. In a contract season for Mims, this is a great opportunity to see his stock rise.
2) Bo Nix continues to hit the deep throws: Nix has hit several deep passes through two days of training camp, and one of the latest featured an off-balance, under duress throw to a streaking Pat Bryant for what would have been a touchdown. The downfield attack has been seen several times now, and has beaten the vaunted Bronco secondary a few times already.

The do-it-all tight end, dual-threat quarterback and special teams ace announced that he would be moving on from the Saints , and at least one NFL analyst suggested Denver bring Hill on . On Saturday, Payton confirmed that the Broncos would consider bringing Hill into the fold. Since Denver's roster is full at 91 players, they would have to make a corresponding move in order to sign Hill.
Broncos Coach Sean Payton told @cfrelund Cynthia Frelund and me today that the Broncos will explore bringing in free agent tight end Taysom Hill, who played for Payton with the Saints.
— Steve Wyche (@wyche89) August 1, 2026 4) Denver's defense finishes strong: The Bronco defense took a beating on Day 1 of camp, giving up several plays downfield, but was able to seal the deal in the two-minute drill against the first-team offense at the end of practice on Saturday. In 2025, the Denver defense made crucial stops at several points through the year to preserve wins, leading them to a deep playoff run. Everyone wants to see the offense do well, but the defense is comfortable in defensive coordinator Vance Joseph's system. "What you need to play together, we already have," linebacker Alex Singleton said after Friday's practice. "We're not going out there learning the defense today. It's guys are perfecting the defense... We're talking about season adjustments, we're not just talking about camp adjustments."

— Denver Broncos (@Broncos) July 31, 2026 5. Bo Nix gives definitive answer on his recovery: After months of hearing about his progress through coaches, and finally from Nix himself during OTAs, the third-year quarterback finally has some meaningful reps under his belt following two days of camp. "I feel great, feel normal" Nix said after practice on Saturday. "Nothing's holding me back. I'm out there playing like I normally do. I feel really good about my spot... Right now, I'm exactly where I want to be."

— Guerilla Sports (@guerillasports) August 1, 2026 The health of Nix will be imperative to the Broncos ' success going into the 2026. With new weapons in wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and running back Jonah Coleman, as well as returning stars J.K. Dobbins, Courtland Sutton, and RJ Harvey, this offense could hum, but only with Nix steering the ship.
The Broncos will have an off-day on Sunday before returning to practice on August 3.
