The Seattle Seahawks signed Dante Fowler this offseason after losing Boye Mafe in free agency, and the move is expected to help the defending Super Bowl champions compensate for the departure in 2026.
According to Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker, Fowler is one of the five most underappreciated acquisitions of the offseason that will benefit their new team in 2026.
”With Boye Mafe now in Cincinnati, Fowler should be able to seamlessly step into the Seahawks ’ deep pass-rushing rotation and fit right in next to DeMarcus Lawrence, Derick Hall and Uchenna Nwosu,” Locker said. “If Fowler garners as much playing time as projected, there’s a strong chance his pressure totals will far outweigh his minimal contract.”
Fowler has produced as a starter and as a backup throughout his 10-year career in the NFL. The veteran edge rusher recorded 11.5 sacks starting in 14 of 16 games played for the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, and 10.5 sacks as recently as the 2024 season, where he started in seven of 17 games played for the Washington Commanders .
Given the fact that he’s on a team-friendly one-year deal, Fowler’s veteran experience, coupled with his capabilities entering his age-32 season in the league, will go a long way in helping the Seahawks maintain their strong pass rush on the edge in 2026.
