Considering Nebraska had not won an NCAA tournament game heading into this spring's edition of March Madness, CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein probably felt his promise to Cornhuskers fans would likely never need to be fulfilled.
“I, at some point before the 2026-27 season, am going to fly to Lincoln, Nebraska,” Rothstein said on CBS’ "Inside College Basketball Now" last season, via the Omaha World-Herald (subscription required). “I’m gonna go downtown. I’m gonna put my credit card down at a bar for an hour, and I am going to throw a happy hour for Nebraska basketball fans.”
It's time for Rothstein to pay up, and he's doing just that.

Rothstein is hosting a happy hour on Sept. 16 at Gate 25 Bar and Restaurant in Lincoln. It'll be fascinating to see if Rothstein is present at the establishment as the Cornhuskers fans bask in the glory of their 2026 March Madness run.
