Gunman fires into crowd in overnight shooting in downtown LA; 2 wounded, 1 critically, police say Sunday, July 26, 2026 4:13PM Stream Southern California's News Leader and Original Shows 24/7 LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two people were wounded, one critically, when a man armed with a handgun fired into a large crowd early Sunday in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Olympic Blvd and Main Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that four people were shot, but investigators later determined that only two people were injured by gunfire, an LAPD spokesperson said. They were transported to a hospital, one in critical condition and the other in stable condition.

The incident occurred when as a large crowd gathered in a rear alley near the intersection, police told ABC7. A verbal altercation led to the suspect brandishing a gun and shooting into the crowd.

The suspect, described as a man in his 30s, fled the scene on foot and remained at large.

Witnesses, including the wounded victim in stable condition, were not being cooperative with the investigation, the LAPD spokesperson said.
