2 young e-bikers wanted for allegedly interferring with traffic stop on Long Island By Krista McNally, Eyewitness News Thursday, August 13, 2026 4:43PM Krista McNally reports from Glen Cove. GLEN COVE, New York (WABC) -- Glen Cove police are searching for two teenagers accused of riding illegal electric motor bikes and allegedly interfering with a traffic stop, actions authorities say put officers and drivers at risk.
Police said the incident happened at about 5 p.m. Wednesday on Shore Road while officers were conducting a traffic stop. According to investigators, the two teens approached officers, cursed at them, then rode away on electric motor bikes before returning and disrupting the stop again.
Authorities allege the teens told officers that the person being pulled over had a gun and made derogatory comments toward police.
"The car stop alone is very stressful for the officers and the person being pulled over, and now you have two individuals coming about getting close to the officers and telling them the person has a gun and making derogatory comments towards the officers," Det. Lt. John Nagle of the Glen Cove Police Department said.
Police released photos of the two teens and are asking for the public's help in identifying them.
Investigators also believe the teens may have been involved in other incidents, according to police.
Glen Cove police said it is illegal for anyone younger than 16 to operate an electric motor bike and advised parents not to purchase the vehicles for their children.
Authorities said they are seeking to identify and speak with the teens' parents about the situation.
