Big pay day’ – Bills fans are completely divided after the NFL announced an ‘awful’ move

Buffalo Bills fans have been left split after O’Cyrus Torrence agreed a lucrative new contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2030 season.

The Bills rewarded one of Josh Allen’s most trusted protectors with a four-year, $78.4 million deal worth $46 million in guaranteed money after Torrence established himself as one of the NFL’s top young guards.

What might be assuring the fans is that Torrence has played in all 51 regular-season games since being drafted in 2023 and has started all seven of Buffalo’s playoff games during that span, making him a key piece of the offensive line in front of Allen.

While many supporters felt the Bills had made one of the best decisions recently by securing one of their best offensive linemen, others questioned the size of the contract.

One fan celebrated the news by writing: “Big pay day.”

Another supporter was far less impressed, posting: “Another AWFUL move by my team. MAKE THESE DUDES WORK FOR IT.”

What was so intriguing is that the others focused on the financial side of the deal.

“46 guaranteed on a 78 million extension is starting to feel tame,” one fan commented.

Another added: “Torrence getting paid before his rookie deal even expires is wild, that interior line investment is serious.”

Thinking of the benefits on the field, many Bills supporters were simply pleased to see Buffalo keeping continuity around Allen.

“Great extension. Huge part of our o line,” one supporter wrote.

Not everyone agreed with handing out another major contract, however.

“We just giving anybody max extensions nowadays,” one fan posted.

Another questioned the investment around Buffalo’s franchise quarterback, asking: “How much help does Josh need?”

Despite the mixed reaction online, the Bills have made their intentions clear.

Speaking from the perspective of the team, head coach Joe Brady recently described Torrence as “one of the top guards in football”, while general manager Brandon Beane stressed that protecting Allen remains the organisation’s biggest priority. Allen also praised his teammate, calling Torrence “the ultimate teammate” who deserves everything he has earned.

With Torrence now under contract through 2030, Buffalo have secured another key member of their offensive line as they continue building around Allen’s Super Bowl ambitions.
