How Colorado football players performed in NFL preseason Week 2

The second week of the NFL preseason wraps up Sunday, but through Saturday's games, multiple Colorado football players have put up notable performances.

Shedeur Sanders was the highlight of the week, starting for the Browns and making his case to be named the team's starting quarterback . Other standouts included wide receivers Jimmy Horn Jr.,  Will Sheppard  and LaJohntay Wester.

Wester and Sheppard both hauled in touchdown receptions, and Horn Jr. showed his speed on an end-around carry. Here is how all former Buffs fared in Week 2 of the preseason.

QB Shedeur Sanders

Statline: 9-of-11 for 74 yards, one touchdown, one interception

Sanders' trademark accuracy was on full display Saturday afternoon, and aside from an unfortunate tipped interception, it was a solid day at the office. It was Sanders' last chance to stake his claim to the Browns' starting quarterback job.

WR Will Sheppard

Statline: Six receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown

Sheppard has the best play of the week from the former Buffs with a spectacular toe-tap touchdown grab to stamp his performance. His big day could have solidified a spot on the 53-man roster.

WR Jimmy Horn Jr.

Statline: One reception for 15 yards, one rush for 39 yards

Horn Jr.'s speed was on full display, taking an end around to the edge for a 39-yard rush. Horn is locked into a spot on the Panthers' roster as their primary punt returner, and as Saturday showed, he can be a gadget player for Carolina's offense.

WR LaJohntay Wester

Statline: Five receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown; three returns for 60 yards

Wester is in a similar position to Horn, seemingly locked in as one of the Ravens' more trusted returners. His standout performance against the Vikings, which included a nice touchdown reception, could unlock more of an opportunity for him in the Ravens' offense.

S Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig

Statline: Four total tackles

Out of all the players we have covered so far, Silmon-Craig's roster status is the most up in the air. Still, he is playing a bunch during the preseason and could make the team as a backup safety.

DB Isaiah Oliver

Statline: Two tackles and an interception

Oliver has bounced around the last few seasons, likely due to his ability to play all over a secondary, but is not a standout at either corner, safety, or nickel. He is a near lock to make the Arizona Cardinals' 53-man roster.

DL Amari McNeill

Statline: Two tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and a quarterback hit

McNeill is a great preseason story, as the former undrafted defensive lineman seems close to locking up a spot on the Chiefs' Week 1 roster.
