Mixed freestyle relay medallists Matt Richards and Dan Jones are in contention to come into the final quartet, alongside Tyler Melbourne-Smith and Bird.
Kyle Booth qualified 13th fastest for the semi-final after finishing fifth in his heat but Josh Inglis missed out after placing eighth in a heat won by Adam Ramsey-Peaty.
