There couldn’t have been a worse start to a series after coming off a high from the last one.
…Well, I guess there could always be worse.
The Atlanta Braves fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 2-0 shutout to open their series on Friday night.
The first run was kicked off by Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo on a Gabriel Moreno RBI at the top of the first inning. And the second was a homer hit by Tim Tawa in the top of the ninth to cap off the night.
Chris Sale pitched through his usual six innings, but gave up five hits and one earned run with a total of nine strikeouts. Besides the first run, Sale did a solid job at holding the rest of the offense off. Plus, it wasn’t his fault the Braves’ offense was quiet throughout the night.
It wasn’t until Tyler Kinley came in for Dylan Dodd that the next run would be scored beyond the fence.
Same story, different team. Not the best way to start, especially against a team that’s putting up similar results through the eye test.
But that’s why there’s always tomorrow.
Until then, rest well, Braves Country. We’ll return to gear up for tomorrow in hopes of turning things around.
