This is exactly the kind of report Liverpool supporters will want to hear. Barcola is young, electric and already operating at a top level, so the idea that he has agreed a five-year deal is hugely exciting. If the player is sold on the move, that already feels like a big breakthrough.

From a fan perspective, this transfer makes so much sense. Liverpool need fresh energy in the attack, they need players who can beat defenders, stretch the pitch and bring unpredictability back into the side. Barcola ticks every one of those boxes. He feels like a modern Liverpool forward, quick, aggressive and capable of developing into a genuine star at Anfield.

The frustration, of course, is the waiting. Supporters will look at PSG’s wider business and wonder why Liverpool should be left hanging while other deals are sorted. But if this is the price of landing a top-class talent, most fans will accept it, provided the club stay firm and get it done.

There is also a wider point here. Liverpool cannot stop at one exciting deal. The squad still needs more quality and more depth if Iraola is going to make an immediate impact. Get Barcola over the line, then keep moving. If this window finishes strongly, the mood around the club could shift very quickly.
