On Monday, Conor McGregor posted a video to his Instagram account announcing that he was going to have knee surgery.

To begin the bout, McGregor rushed across the cage and leaped into the air with a jumping switch kick. He landed awkwardly on his right leg and fell to the canvas. He fell twice more, once while throwing a kick and later a punch. The referee stepped in once it was obvious McGregor had suffered an injury.

On Wednesday, McGregor provided an update following successful surgery and remains confident that he'll eventually return to the octagon. He's targeting next summer for a return date. The 38 year-old has one fight remaining on his UFC contract.
