24/7 Live New York City New Jersey Long Island Northern Suburbs Connecticut Tiempo Tiempo: Humanitarian crisis in Venezuela after powerful earthquakes strike Tiempo with Joe Torres airs Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on Channel 7, WABC-TV in New York City.
Tiempo - 07/26/26 NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- On this episode of "Tiempo," we'll talk about the new literacy and cultural hub located within the Alianza Dominicana Culture Center in Washington Heights.
The Latinidad Library features a collection of books that celebrate Latino authors, bilingual and Spanish-language books, as well as writing materials and drawing materials for young learners.
Its mission is to expand access to literacy and inspire a lifelong love of reading and celebrate cultural identity.
We'll also dive into the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela after the strong earthquakes that hit the country last month.
The needs assessments are ongoing. At the start of this year, more than 7.9 million Venezuelans were already in need of urgent humanitarian support due to rampant hyperinflation, chronic shortages of basic goods, and an ongoing mass exodus that displaced millions of people.
People in our area are working together to send much needed help. One of those organizations is Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid based in New York City.
The organization was founded 10 years ago to help displaced Venezuelans and asylum seekers here, but it has now shifted to relief efforts.
