Former RCA Executive Val Pensa Launches Moonstruck Management & Marketing Firm

Former RCA Records head of marketing Val Pensa has left the label and is launching her own management and marketing firm Moonstruck, she announced today (Aug. 13). The new company will be based in Los Angeles.

Prior to starting Moonstruck, Pensa spent 15 years at RCA, and was named senior vp/head of marketing in 2021. During her time at the label, Pensa oversaw marketing campaigns for the likes of Doja Cat , P!nk , Becky G , Pentatonix , Kygo , Tate McRae and more, and won three Clio Awards for her work on the marketing campaign for Sia ’s 2014 hit single “Chandelier,” which reached No. 8 on the Hot 100, and has won 10 overall. She has appeared on Billboard ’s 30 under 30 and 40 under 40 lists, and is a multi-time Billboard Women In Music honoree, most recently earlier this year. In 2023, Pensa was named Billboard ’s Executive of the Week for her work on P!nk’s 10th studio album, Trustfall , which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and became the singer’s ninth top 10 album.

“Moonstruck means dreamily entranced — devoted to something you believe in,” Pensa said in a statement about her new company. “That’s exactly how I feel about artists with real vision, and it’s the only way I know how to work. This industry doesn’t sit still and my job is to stay dedicated to that vision no matter how the business evolves.”

With Moonstruck, Pensa aims to continue much of the work she has done with both emerging and established acts and is focused on building out long-term careers. No word yet on which artists she has signed up to the new venture. “I’ve always had a calling to start my own company — it was just a matter of timing,” Pensa wrote on Instagram about the announcement. “I’m so grateful for the journey that brought me here, from J Records to A&M/Octone and back to my longtime home at RCA Records. Every campaign, every late night, every artist who trusted me with their moment — it all led here.”
