New Texans TE Foster Moreau believes C.J. has 'some of the best arm talent' in the NFL

While the NFL public is torn on Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud entering Year 4, his new teammate and perhaps breakout weapon is ready to see him take another leap forward this offseason.

Tight end Foster Moreau recently was on SiriusXM's NFL channel discussing the upcoming training camp in Houston and was asked about Stroud's growth through OTAs and minicamp. Perhaps the league's most perplexing quarterback, Stroud looked better last fall during the regular season, but struggled with turnovers in the playoffs, totaling seven interceptions and two fumbles in two games.

But Moreau, who signed after spending the last two seasons in New Orleans, sees Stroud as a mature passer with strong mechanics. The talent is there and well on display during practices, which has allowed Moreau to feel comfortable in the new offensive look.

"He’s always chasing greatness, always chasing excellence. He’s underrated with his legs. I mean that cat can move. I’m excited for what I’ve seen throughout OTAs, throughout the phase one and phase two."

Moreau should be a promising option for the offense with Nick Caley running the show. The Texans plan on being more aggressive with their tight end play, which at times was a weakness last fall. Houston also plans on being more efficient in the run, another weak point because of poor blocking at the tight end position in general.

But Stroud has to have the buy-in from the locker room. The Texans have no intention of trading him and want to keep him around for the long term. Everything, however, comes with him taking a jump forward, something Moreau has seen firsthand through workouts and drills.

"He’s getting everyone together out in California for a nice throwing session. I thought he was a quiet leader for us when I first showed up and then we got into the workouts and he’s vocal. He’s loud. He has an expectation & has a vision for what he wants our offense to be, our team to be. He doesn’t have a choice, he’s a leader for us, regardless of circumstance.”

The Texans will begin training camp on Tuesday, July 28.
