Donald has been happily retired for the last two years, but L.A. acquired reigning sack leader Myles Garrett earlier in the offseason — and the move piqued Donald’s interest in making an NFL comeback.
And now that Donald appears to be closer to pulling the trigger on playing again, all QBs in the NFC aren’t thrilled with the prospect of playing against both Donald and Garrett.
During a recent appearance on the “Green Light With Chris Long” podcast, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff — a former teammate of Donald’s with the Rams — admitted he’s not looking forward to potentially having to elude the future Hall of Famer in the playoffs.
“How many snaps a game you think he gives the Rams this year if he comes back?” Long asked him .
“Hopefully zero,” Goff joked. “In that playoff game, we beat [the Rams] and I’m like, ‘We did it; Aaron’s done. I don’t have to see him ever again.’ And he’s like, ‘Hold on, I might come back.’ So, we’ll see. If he comes back, I’m sure he’ll help them a lot. We might see them in the playoffs, and I can’t say enough good things about him.”
Goff and Donald played together in L.A. from 2016 to 2020.
They duo helped lead the Rams to three playoff appearances and one Super Bowl appearance in five years together.
Goff is 1-1 against Donald and the Rams since he was traded to Detroit back in 2021. That lone win was a 24-23 playoff victory back in 2023 that ended up being Donald’s final game before announcing his retirement.
