4 performances of note from the Patriots’ third training camp practice

After two higher-speed sessions to start their 2026 training camp, the New England Patriots dialed the intensity back on Monday. Instead of a regular practice, they held a walkthrough on the fields behind Gillette Stadium.

N/A: Due to the walkthrough nature of Monday’s session, no player was in a position to truly stand out among peers. That is why we are leaving this section empty. The pace should be picked up again on Tuesday, though, which means that we will be on the lookout again for a standout performer.

Other performances of note

RB Lan Larison: From the outside looking in, walkthroughs are less about player performance and more about how those players are used. With that in mind, Larison stands out: as has been the case the first two days of camp, he once again repped as the third running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. The introduction of full pads has the potential to change the picture, but right now the sophomore looks like the clear frontrunner for the RB3 job.

WR Kyle Williams and WR Efton Chism III: The top of the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart seems relatively set. A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte — the latter with a potential asterisk given that he remains a trade candidate — will be the top wideouts. The next and potentially final spot, meanwhile, looks like the subject of a competition between two sophomores: former third-round draft pick Kyle Williams and former undrafted rookie Efton Chism. The two rotated in an out of the top-level offense on Monday in a competition that very well could go either way.

TE Tanner Arkin: Like Lan Larison, Arkin was already listed among yesterday’s performances of note . And like his teammate, he too appears to be in a good position to earn a depth spot on the roster. Arkin, after all, continued to see meaningful reps with the first-team offense on Monday. With fellow blocking tight end Julian Hill out for the year, he very well could be on the inside track to earn the role — at least if the first few practices including today’s walkthrough are concerned.

The Patriots will hold their fourth practice of training camp on Monday. Gates will open at 9:15 p.m. ET with the session set to start approximately an hour later.
