Colin Cowherd shares optimism for Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills’ 2026 campaign

This could be Buffalo’s year according to Colin Cowherd. The FS1 host made a very early Super Bowl prediction on Wednesday’s show and his “really strong guess” for who would meet in the big game is the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills.

Cowherd seems much more certain that the Rams will be there, saying that they have the best roster in a decade:

“That’s how good it is. You’ve gotta go back to those Seahawks teams. Russell Wilson in his prime. When he wasn’t making any money and they could load it up with Percy Harvin and Cliff Avril who didn’t even have to take that many snaps because they were paying Russell Wilson nothing and he was productive. I think the Ram’s roster’s insane.”

Obviously, Cowherd is mashing a bunch of Seahawks seasons together here. Wilson was in his second year when the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII to cap off the 2013 season . Harvin played in three games total that season but scored on a kick return in the Super Bowl. Avril played 56% of the defensive snaps that season. Anyhow…

After hearing high praise like that you probably expect him to say something similar about the team the Bills have put together, right? Right?

The case for the Bills

He starts out his case for the Bills by asking, “When’s Josh Allen gonna get there?” Cowherd then lists a bunch of the most famous modern quarterbacks, pointing out some of them never won a Super Bowl, but when most of them did, it had taken awhile. Also, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw won a bunch.

Then Cowherd compares Allen having his prime alongside Mahomes to Phil Mickelson having his during the Tiger Woods era. Allen was also compared to “The Shawshank Redemption” which lost Best Picture to “Forrest Gump.” And from there he breaks out this line:

“You know, 2017, ‘The Shape of Water’ wins. A story about a woman who falls in love with a fish. What are we doing?”

Is Allen Guillermo del Toro in this situation? Is the Lombardi Trophy the fish? It’s unclear, but this is when he finally gets to why he’s picking the Bills to make the Super Bowl:

“I like Buffalo in the AFC. I think the D.J. Moore, offensive coach now. I think it all works.”

And that’s the optimism. All of it. Cowherd then goes on to talk about how the Patriots are younger and won more games last season and the Bills really need homefield advantage in the playoffs because most Brady and Montana playoff highlights are from home games.

Honestly, this is not the most airtight case you could make for a team, but in Cowherd’s own words, it’s only a “pretty strong guess.”
