ELMWOOD, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) -- The Trojans feel like they have something to prove.
Elmwood-Brimfield won just three football games with young lineup last fall. This year the Trojans hope to return to playoff form.
"Last season was a learning struggle for a lot of us, we had a lot of sophomores starting on offense and defense last year," said tight end Gavin Strom, who was one of those sophomores last year. "We had a lot to learn, we weren't quite ready yet with our sophomores, but this year we're ready to go, and we've been working hard all year."
Strom is part of a big junior class that is hoping to make a big impact this season. Senior tackle Owen Thornton and running backs Myles Alger and Logan Estes are being counted on to lead this program, which has made the playoffs 18 times since 2003.
"I'm hoping to see 22 guys on both (offense and defense) giving it their all, just making sure they're giving it 100 percent each play, so then we can all say that we left it all out on the field," said Alger.
The Trojans open the season at Annawan-Wethersfield on Aug. 21.
