Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is the Madden NFL 27 cover star, which is quite an achievement for a player heading into their third season.
However, he's not among the members of the exclusive Madden 99 Club, which was officially revealed on Monday. Six other players received that honor, including quarterbacks Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams.
Williams, aka the "Iceman," wants to join that elite club of players rated as the best of the best in the league. While on "Up and Adams With Kay Adams," Williams explained what he needs to improve to get into that club.
"If I get my completion percentage, I'll be a 99," he told Adams . "I don't throw picks. I'm not a pick guy. Throw a few more touchdowns and keep the picks down, and then just get the completions up. Easy completions, complete them, and it'll shoot up."

While Williams led the Bears through a spectacular and often entertaining season to the playoffs, his completion percentage dropped from 62.5% the season before to 58.1% last season. However, he nearly threw for 4,000 yards and threw 27 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
He's heading into just his third season, which is a major reason for Bears fans to get excited. Add in that this is his second season under head coach Ben Johnson, and it seems like Williams can only get better.
"[Coach Ben Johnson] asked me a question right before I left. He said, 'Is there anything you need from me to be better for you?' and I said, 'Nope, just keep pushing me,'" he explained of how his head coach will continue to help him develop into a better player.
Williams has plenty of talent around him, too. Although the Bears traded DJ Moore this offseason, they will have emerging young stars Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze, and Colston Loveland returning to the receiving corps. In addition, they drafted Stanford tight end Sam Roush and LSU wide receiver Zavion Thomas.
It's certainly going to be interesting to see what Williams and the Bears can do after last season. Will it be another successful campaign or a slight regression after such a magical run to get to the playoffs and nearly the NFC Championship Game? Time will tell, but it certainly seems like there's more magic on the way from a player as talented as Williams.
