After his 2025-26 season was prematurely halted due to a hamstring strain, Luka Doncic has been spending a good portion of his summer in his native Slovenia. He has been physically preparing for the upcoming NBA campaign by going back to the same diet that allowed him to lose weight last summer, and he recently said he's 100% healthy after the hamstring strain he sustained in April.
Doncic recently decided to hold a four-day minicamp in Slovenia for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates and to pay for his teammates to make their way overseas for the event. Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN , that minicamp will take place later this month.
"In order to extend his time in Slovenia before the upcoming NBA season and create an opportunity for team bonding, Doncic is hosting the entire Lakers roster in Ljubljana for a four-day minicamp from Aug. 20 to Aug. 24, a source close to the Lakers told ESPN last week."
Every player currently on the team will be attending the minicamp, except for one -- Cameron Carr. Carr, a rookie guard out of Baylor University, will instead be attending the NBA's annual rookie orientation, which is mandatory for all incoming first-year players. Such players are hit with stiff penalties if they skip that rookie orientation.
The Lakers' official training camp is expected to begin in late September. Their first preseason game will take place on Oct. 5 versus the Sacramento Kings .
