The future of Marc Casado continues to hang in the balance as we enter the final few days of the summer transfer window.

In recent days, RB Leipzig had joined the race to sign the Barcelona midfielder, sparking belief that the Spaniard might end up joining the Bundesliga.

One of Casado’s key priorities, after all, is to continue playing at the highest level of football. So quite naturally, the interest from Leipzig was encouraging.

However, it appears Leipzig, too, have now backed off from the deal to sign Marc Casado this summer, reports Fabrizio Romano .

The Italian journalist suggests Leipzig will not pursue Casado anymore, as they have opted to sign Neil El Aynaoui from AS Roma.

One of the key reasons why Leipzig backed off from the deal is that the Bundesliga giants were looking to loan a new midfielder with an option to buy next summer.

In Casado’s case, Barcelona wanted a permanent transfer for the Spanish international.

This is in stark contrast to the El Aynaoui deal, with the player set to join Leipzig on a loan deal worth €4 million, with a €25 million buyout clause attached to the contract.

With a move to Leipzig no longer a possibility, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Casado.

The midfielder is certainly not a part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the new season and has to leave in order to make space in the Barcelona setup.

Recent reports have indicated that Casado’s future might not be resolved until the very last minute of the transfer window.

Fortunately, Casado doesn’t seem to have any shortage of suitors, and with a reliable agent like Jorge Mendes working on his future, it will only be a surprise to see the Spaniard failing to leave Barcelona by the end of the transfer window.
