Real Sociedad have not given up on the pursuit of Barcelona defender amid Dortmund links

The future of Hector Fort is expected to be resolved in the coming week, with Borussia Dortmund firm favourites to secure his services.

Dortmund and Barcelona are currently in talks to finalise a move that could see Fort join the Bundesliga giants on a permanent deal, with the Catalans holding a percentage of the player’s rights.

But the deal is far from done and the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement, potentially leaving the door open for other teams.

According to MARCA , Real Sociedad have not given up on signing Fort and are looking to take advantage of the fact that Dortmund are yet to get a deal over the line.

The San Sebastian club want the young full-back to strengthen their right flank and are reportedly close to making an initial offer that would satisfy Barcelona.

That could set up an intriguing tug-of-war for Fort’s signature in the days ahead.

For their part, Barcelona are willing to sanction the sale provided they receive a significant fee, understood to be in the region of €15 million, along with a buy-back option to retain some control over the youngster’s future.

Despite Real Sociedad’s determination, there is one key factor that could work against them.

While the German outlet must still agree a fee with Barcelona, the lure of a move to one of Europe’s most exciting leagues could prove decisive for the player.

That leaves Real Sociedad facing an uphill battle, even if their financial proposal ends up matching or bettering Dortmund’s.

Convincing Fort to remain in LaLiga rather than pursue his preferred move abroad may be the toughest part of any deal.
