Preseason tours are always dominated in terms of coverage by new signings, and often by the appearance of exciting youth stars.
That’s been very much the case with Chelsea this summer. We’ve heard a lot about new arrival Marco Palestra, for example, and a lot about youth talent Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli. But we haven’t heard a lot about the likes of Jamie Gittens, who after a first season at Chelsea that was half forgettable and half wiped out by injury, is looking for a new start.

He’s spoken to the club’s official website about how he feels as the preseason tour reaches its climax:
“I’m feeling, I would say, more confident now – in my body as well,” Gittens explained.
“The injury that happened [impacted my first season], but I’m feeling better every day. I’m trying to improve every day to be the best version of myself.
“It’s been good to be back with the boys,’ Gittens explains. ‘I’m really enjoying it right now and it’s been really good to be part of this team.”
He faces a tough battle for minutes following the signing of Morgan Rogers, but should at the very least be able to show his level better than he was a year ago.
In other news…
Axel Disasi is a defender Chelsea would like to sell this summer, and there is finally some transfer interest in him from Premier League teams.
