Subway commuters traveling through Manhattan are in for a Monday morning headache.
According to the MTA, service on the A, B, C and D trains will be limited during the Monday morning rush. Officials said crews are working around the clock to bring back regular service to the train lines after “discovery of a condition” during weekend work at 81st St. and Central Park West, the Museum of National History subway station.
Videos posted to social media at the subway station by riders over the weekend show large rocks and debris scattered along the local tracks. The MTA said cracks underneath the track bed were discovered during planned work over the weekend to both demolish and replace tracks.
For Monday morning commuters there will be no downtown local service between 125th St. and 59th St.-Columbus Circle. That means downtown B and C trains will run express and skip all local stops in the downtown direction.
As for uptown A, B, C and D service, those trains will run with delays. Uptown B and C trains will make local stops throughout Manhattan.
MTA officials urged commuters traveling along the corridor on Monday to consider using 1, 2 and 3 trains instead.
The MTA performed temporary maintenance on the cracked portions of the trackbed starting Sunday evening and into Monday morning, but will schedule permanent repairs on “a later date.”
