Cameron Flukey, Tigers' first-round pick, still hasn't allowed a run as a pro

Cameron Flukey, the Tigers' first-round pick in July's Major League Baseball Draft, made his third professional appearance Wednesday, Aug, 27.

Flukey, the No. 22 overall pick out of Coastal Carolina , threw three scoreless innings for the Low-A Lakeland Flying Tigers in a game against Clearwater at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida.

Flukey allowed just one hit and one walk, while striking out four (all on fastballs). He also hit a batter.

In his debut, Aug. 12, he threw 1.1 scoreless innings , and in his second start he threw two scoreless innings. Flukey has allowed just two hits through 6.1 innings. He's walked four and hit two batters.

In his latest start, as the Tigers keep close tabs on his workload, Flukey topped out at 97 mph. Flukey had a limited final college season, missing the first two-plus months with a rib injury before returning to help lead Coastal Carolina to the College World Series. He pitched in seven games this season for Coastal Carolina, spanning 24 innings. For his college career, he struck out 232 in 180.2 innings.

Flukey is the No. 6 prospect in the Tigers' system, according to MLB Pipeline .
