And his 12 Pro Bowls, three first-team All-Pro selections, and two second-team All-Pro selections would certainly back that up.

But Williams is 38, and the clock on his career is winding down — and that’s definitely not lost on him. Williams was asked about nearing the end of his career Sunday at San Francisco 49ers training camp, and he admitted he knows his time in the league is coming to an end, which is why he’s looking at things a little differently these days.

“You just try to soak it in,” Williams told reporters . “I don’t know, obviously, it could be my last two years — that’s probably the plan — so I’m just really trying to soak in every day, build each relationship, and take advantage of it, man, because once that window closes, it’s never going to open back up.”

Williams has started 10 or more games every year since he joined the NFL back in 2010 as the fourth overall pick by the Washington Commanders.

Since he landed with the 49ers back in 2020, Williams has surrendered one sack or fewer and 20 pressures or fewer in four of six seasons.

Last season, Williams played 1,112 offensive snaps, allowing four sacks, 40 pressures, 26 hurries, and 10 QB hits, according to Pro Football Focus. He made his 12th Pro Bowl and was a second-team All-Pro selection.

San Francisco doesn’t currently have an heir apparent to Williams, but there are plenty of solid options to replace him in the 2027 draft including LSU’s Jordan Seaton, Texas’ Trevor Goosby, Ohio State’s Austin Siereveld, and Missouri’s Cayden Green.
