Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse believes he's "fine" after suffering a minor knee injury while covering a punt in the first quarter of Green Bay's 33-13 win over the Denver Broncos on Friday night.
According to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com , Cisse wanted to go back into the game but was held out for precautionary reasons.
“I just got beat up a little bit,” Cisse told Wood. “Nothing serious at all. I was trying to go back in. Just being precautionary. I’m fine. Nothing to worry about. I wanted to go back in.”
Cisse, the team's top draft pick, started the game at corner and ended up playing just six snaps with the first-team defense against the Broncos. He did not allow a completion, and the lone target against his coverage -- a throw to starter Courtland Sutton -- was incomplete.
Cisse said he "felt a little something" in his knee while attempting to beat a double team block on punt coverage. He was briefly evaluated on the sideline but did not return to the contest.
The Packers have a public practice on Monday and a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday. It's unclear if Cisse, a likely rookie starter, will be available for either event to start next week, the final week of the preseason. The Packers face the Minnesota Vikings in the regular season opener on Sunday, Sept. 13, which is still over three weeks away -- giving Cisse ample time to recover should the knee cause him any problems in the short term.
