To say Angus Doig did not expect to win Commonwealth Games weightlifting bronze would be an understatement.
The 27-year-old firefighter was 27kg behind the leader at halfway in the 88kg category. After making his three clean and jerks he finished around 25kg short of what would normally be considered the mark for a medal.

"When I heard the barbell hit the platform I knew he'd missed it," the Scot, who trains along at his garage in the Peak District of England said. "It's absolutely unbelievable – and here I am back doing more interviews."
"My goal had always been just to get to the Commonwealth Games, do my best and try for the top five. The podium was never on the cards."
Doig - who qualifies through his Scottish father David - won the British Championship this year, despite only switching from CrossFit to weightlifting two-and-a-half years ago.
Later in the day, Beth Ashbee finished ninth in the women's 63kg and Maddie Rosher was fifth in the 69kg.
