Projecting Alabama football's 2026 depth chart entering fall camp

In the coming days, Alabama football will return to action for the official start of 2026 fall camp.

A team with a number of questions remaining ahead of the season, Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have yet to name a starting quarterback entering the 2026 campaign, while it is still also unknown just who will start at multiple other key spots. This includes multiple spots on the offensive line, as well as at inside linebacker and special teams.

With many of those, if not all, set to be answered at some point between now and Week 1 against East Carolina, here is a projection of Alabama's 2026 depth chart entering fall camp, featuring both the starters and primary backups at every position.

Quarterback

Starter: Austin Mack OR Keelon Russell

Backup: Austin Mack OR Keelon Russell

After an offseason loaded with talk surrounding the position, Alabama's starting quarterback will be decided during fall camp between senior Austin Mack and sophomore Keelon Russell. Whoever wins the job during fall camp is set to start Week 1 against East Carolina, while the other of the two will be Alabama's top backup.

Running Back

Starter: Daniel Hill

Backup: Kevin Riley OR AK Dear

Daniel Hill is back as Alabama's projected starting running back to lead a position group that is one of the Crimson Tide's most important entering 2026. Kevin Riley and AK Dear project as the top backups, while star freshman EJ Crowell is definitely a player who will garner a ton of hype during fall camp.

Wide Receiver

Starter: Ryan Coleman-Williams, Lotzeir Brooks, Noah Rogers

Backup: Derek Meadows, Rico Scott, Cederian Morgan

Both of Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks are cemented as starters entering fall camp, while the status of Noah Rogers is an unknown leading up to Week 1 due to injury. If Rogers is unable to go Week 1, it will likely be one of Derek Meadows or Rico Scott stepping up to begin the season, while highly-touted freshman Cederian Morgan could also do so.

Tight End

Starter: Kaleb Edwards

Backup: Marshall Pritchett

Alabama's tight end room is headlined by a pair of sophomores, Kaleb Edwards and Marshall Pritchett. Both will be major impact players at the position in 2026, with the likes of Josh Ford and Jay Lindsey among the others to know.

Offensive Tackle

Starter: Jackson Lloyd, Jayvin James

Backup: Nick Brooks, Ty Haywood

While left tackle is set to feature Jackson Lloyd as the starter, right tackle could still be a bit of a question ahead of fall camp. Mississippi State transfer Jayvin James likely enters fall camp as the favorite to start, but a pair of other transfers in Texas' Nick Brooks and Michigan's Ty Haywood could also challenge for the spot.

Offensive Guard

Starter: Michael Carroll, William Sanders

Backup: Ethan Fields, Mal Waldrep Jr. OR Casey Poe

After seeing time at right tackle a year ago, sophomore Michael Carroll is likely to make the move to guard in 2026, a position where William Sanders is also projected to emerge as a starter alongside him entering fall camp. If there is a name to watch during fall camp who could challenge for a starting job, then it's likely Ole Miss transfer Ethan Fields.

Center

Starter: Racin Delgatty

Backup: Kaden Strayhorn

Alabama's starting center will come via an offseason transfer addition in Racin Delgatty, a senior from Cal Poly. The Crimson Tide also added Michigan transfer Kaden Strayhorn, a sophomore who is likely to be the top backup option.

Defensive Tackle

Starter: Terrance Green, London Simmons

Backup: Kedrick Bingley-Jones, Edric Hill OR Jeremiah Beaman

Switching to the other side of the ball, the defensive tackle position is likely to rotate a number of players very often. Oregon transfer Terrance Green and returning sophomore London Simmons project as starters, but portal addition Kedrick Bingley-Jones from Mississippi State could also challenge for a spot.

Defensive End

Starter: Devan Thompkins

Backup: Jah-Marien Latham OR Fatutoa Henry

Alabama's starter at bandit will be USC transfer Devan Thompkins, a versatile defensive lineman who could play a number of different roles this season up front. Jah-Marien Latham returns following an injury, while Fatutoa Henry, who is a fifth-year senior, also projects as a top backup option.

Outside Linebacker

Starter: Yhonzae Pierre

Backup: Justin Hill OR Desmond Umeozulu

Yhonzae Pierre is a lock to start at wolf for Alabama in 2026, a position group that is certainly not lacking for talent. Justin Hill, a returning sophomore, projects as a major impact player, as does South Carolina transfer Desmond Umeozulu.

Inside Linebacker

Starter: Caleb Woodson, QB Reese

Backup: Cayden Jones, Luke Metz

The inside linebacker position will likely feature a competition in fall camp to see who starts alongside Virginia Tech transfer Caleb Woodson. QB Reese, a returning junior, likely projects as the favorite entering fall camp, but others such as Cayden Jones, Luke Metz, and freshman Xavier Griffin should not be counted out.

Cornerback

Starter: Zabien Brown, Dijon Lee Jr.

Backup: Carmelo O'Neal, Chuck McDonald III

The Crimson Tide return both starting cornerbacks from last season in Zabien Brown and Dijon Lee Jr., a junior and sophomore, respectively. Carmelo O'Neal, a transfer from Mercer, is also a name to know

Safety

Starter: Bray Hubbard, Keon Sabb

Backup: Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Ivan Taylor

Alabama returns both starting safeties from a year ago in senior Bray Hubbard and fifth-year senior Keon Sabb. The duo, similar to cornerback, will start in 2026 as one of college football's top safety pairings.

Husky

Starter: Red Morgan

Backup: Zavier Mincey

Red Morgan is Alabama's likely starter at husky once again after emerging a year ago. Zavier Mincey is a backup with experience, while top freshman Jireh Edwards could also play a role, and is likely to continuing garnering hype during fall camp.
