What can Cam Little do for an encore?

The Jacksonville Jaguars ' third-year kicker from Arkansas booted the longest field goal in NFL preseason history last season, 70 yards vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Doesn't count, the cynics said? Fine. He broke the NFL record for the longest field goal with a 68-yarder on Nov. 2, 2025, at Las Vegas.

Indoors, the cynics said? All right. Little broke the NFL record for the longest field goal in an outdoor stadium on Jan. 4, 2026, when he connected on a 67-yarder at home against the Tennessee Titans.

Keeping moving the goal posts, and Little will find a way to drill a football between them.

In addition to his long-distance kicks, Little he set the franchise record for points in one season (140), most field goals of 50 yards or longer in one season (eight) and became the youngest NFL kicker to make 50 career three-pointers at 22 years and 119 days.

Little said his goals for this season are lofty but who's going to doubt he can do it after everything he's accomplished in his first two NFL seasons?

His answer to a follow-up season is simple.

"By having another year like it, or even better," Little said on Aug. 2 after he kicked two field goals under live conditions in the Jaguars' fourth training camp practice of the preseason, at the Miller Electric Center. "My goal every season, even from college, was that last season doesn't matter anymore."

And Little is quick to offer a reminder that last season wasn't without its speed bumps.

He had a four-game stretch early in the season in which he made only 4 of 8 field-goal attempts, including the 20-12 home loss to Seattle when he missed a 50-yard attempt and a conversion.

After missing a field-goal attempt in the 35-7 loss to the Rams, Little regrouped (citing a few practice sessions where he went back to his old high school field in Oklahoma with his father and a bag of footballs) and finished the regular season by making 56 kicks in a row, 20 field goals and 36 conversions, a huge spark in the Jaguars' run to the AFC South title.

Little then missed a 54-yard attempt at the end of the first half in the home playoff game against Buffalo that could have given the Jaguars a 10-10 halftime tie and sorely-needed momentum.

Little said consistency will be his mantra this season.

"That should add fuel to my fire this season," he said of the early-season slump and his miss in the playoffs. "I want to limit that this season, build off that … maybe prepare a little better. Not that I didn't prepare as well last year but I think I'm taking care of the details, especially going into year three and learning some stuff that maybe I didn't know."

It's tough to see how he can be more consistent. Little has yet to miss an NFL field-goal attempt of less than 40 yards (28 of 28) and he's 77 of 78 on conversions (the miss against Seattle was his first in college or the NFL). Little has made 90.5 percent of his NFL attempts, 57 of 63.

Little seeks to reduce stress

Little said he's working closely with the team's sports psychologists and is communicating with other NFL kickers, a fraternity of players who love to share information on mental and physical techniques perhaps more than any other position group.

Little also said he's striving to leave the pressure of being an NFL kicker behind when he leaves the building every day.

"It is a stressful job here in the National Football League," he said. "But it's turning off stress outside the building."

To that end, Little has his fellow specialists as his best friends in punter/holder Logan Cooke and long snapper Ross Matiscik , with fishing, golf, barbecues and simply guy talk that goes beyond football.

Little also has a girlfriend, Sanya, who he calls "amazing."

"She keeps me humble and makes me strive to be the best man I can," he said. "Keeps my head on my shoulders and makes sure I'm doing the right things, not only inside football but outside football."

Cam the card collector

Little also has a new hobby that he said is helping him relax: collecting sports cards.

His goal is to get the rookie card of every one of his teammates (he recently acquired Travis Hunter and Robert Hainsey ) and wouldn't mind scoring the most valuable Trevor Lawrence card , a 2021 Panini National Treasures Platinum signed NFL Shield Patch Rookie Card that is valued at $336,000 in mint condition

"There's money in cards, but you have to pull the good ones," he said.

By the way, a 2024 Panini "Totally Certified Rookie Yearbook Autograph" Cam Little card is currently worth, in mint condition, up to $170.

But if he keeps nailing long-distance field goals, who knows what the market will bring?
