Drew Allar's final college season ended on a sour note, as he missed the second half of the 2025 season with an injury, but he returned to action on Thursday in the NFL.

The former Penn State quarterback made his first appearance with the Pittsburgh Steelers as they hosted the Green Bay Packers in their first preseason game. Allar got to finish the game and ended up being the player of the contest, leading Pittsburgh to a blowout victory.

Allar was once considered a first-round prospect, but inconsistencies and injuries led to his fall in the draft. Now, he hopes to prove he belongs in the NFL, and he is off to a good start in that regard.

Behind Rodgers, Rudolph currently holds the spot as the backup thanks to his eight years of experience. However, both Howard and Allar could supplant Rudolph with strong preseason performances.

Pittsburgh will have to choose which of Rudolph, Howard or Allar to let go, unless it decides to keep all four quarterbacks. Either way, Allar will not have much of a chance to play this year unless there are major shake-ups ahead of him.
