Not much went right for the Pirates on Friday night. Carmen Mlodzinski struggled in his first start since May, and the offense continued to struggle against left-handed starting pitching.
The end result? A 6-4 loss to the Mets at PNC Park, pushing their losing streak to four games at exactly the wrong time.

Top 1st, 1-0 NYM: Carson Benge plated A.J. Ewing from third base with a base hit to center field off Carmen Mlodzinski (6-4).

Bottom 7th, 6-2 NYM: The Pirates (57-60) finally got on the board on a Jared Triolo RBI single to left off Jefry Yan. After Pittsburgh loaded the bases later in the inning, Jake Mangum tacked on a second run with a sacrifice fly to right.
Bottom 9th, 6-3 NYM: Pinch-hitter Jacob Gonzalez banged one high off the Clemente Wall in right field off Devin Williams. He plated Ronny Simon from second, but was thrown out trying to stretch a double. Brandon Lowe brought the Pirates within two with an RBI single to center.
