With the SEC Media Days wrapped up, those who cover the game released their predicted order of finish for the league, placing the Kentucky Wildcats 14th. They also released their three preseason All-SEC teams , and once again, Kentucky wasn't given much credit, getting just two players nominated between the 70 players nominated.
Willie Rodriguez was named as the third-team tight end. His numbers under Mark Stoops weren't great, but he's a terrific athlete who should be given a chance to shine in Will Stein's offense. He comes in behind Trey'Dez Green of the LSU Tigers and Lawson Luckie of the Georgia Bulldogs .
The other Wildcat to make one of the teams is tackle Lance Heard , who made the second team. Heard transferred in from the Tennessee Volunteers and brings considerable experience and talent to the big blue wall in Lexington.
Those two deserve their spots, but there are a few other players who could be considered snubs. Safety Ty Bryant was an All-SEC player last year, and will be a leader on the Kentucky defense.
Coleton Price was one of the nation's best centers a year ago at Baylor. He is also an experience player who was All-Big 12 in 2025 after allowing just one sack all season.
One could, perhaps, make an argument for one or two other players, but those two feel like the biggest snubs. It's disappointing that the media failed to recognize them. However, congratulations to Rodriguez and Heard for earning their spots. The others will have to make their arguments on the field this fall.
