Netflix Tabs Hall of Famer as No. 1 Broadcast Analyst for 2026 NFL Season

And while the streaming giant isn’t quite on the level of ESPN, Fox, CBS, or even YouTube TV, it is making some headway in holding the broadcast rights to five NFL regular-season games in 2026.

A bigger push is expected in the future to land more games throughout the season, and in doing so, Netflix is seemingly hopeful that its found its Tom Brady of the broadcast booth.

“Hall of Fame linebacker Luke Kuechly will be Netflix’s new No. 1 NFL game analyst after impressing the streamer’s executives during a recent tryout, according to sources briefed on the move,” The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported .

“Kuechly will first team with NBC’s Noah Eagle during the second game of the regular season Thursday, Sept. 10, when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers from the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. NBC is producing the game for Netflix.”

After retiring, Kuechly spent a year as a pro scout for the Panthers before joining the team’s radio broadcast as an analyst. He was later hired by CBS Sports as a college football analyst in 2024.

The 35-year-old Kuechly, who totaled 1,092 tackles, 75 tackles for loss, 65 passes defended, 18 interceptions, 12.5 sacks, eight fumble recoveries, and seven forced fumbles across eight seasons, will be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month.

He was a seven-time Pro Bowler, a five-time first-team All-Pro, a two-time second-team All-Pro, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He also led the NFL in total tackles twice and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
