As the NFL Top 100 was nearing the 20’s, and with Devon Witherspoon missing the Top 100 , many fans of the Seattle Seahawks were worried their Super Bowl winning quarterback was not going to make it. That is, until Friday.
No. 21 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026… @Seahawks QB Sam Darnold! @NFLFilms pic.twitter.com/ayBrzUkqDS

Darnold came in at 21, making a 51-spot jump from last years ranking, with glowing endorsements from some of the best defenders in the league, including Byron Murphy II who said,
“Top five quarterback in the league. And not five either.”
Grey Zabel also gave his stamp of approval of Darnold, stating,
“That’s my guy. That’s my QB. That’s a guy you want to go to war for and protect him at all costs.”
Derek Stingley, Houston Texans star and one of the best cornerbacks in the league, had this to say about Darnold,
“Nothing seems to rattle him. Like, if he has pressure in his face, it seems like he still somehow makes the right throw.”
He ranked fifth in the league in 2025 in passing yards with 4,048 yards as well as fifth in DVOA. He also tied for ninth in touchdown passes and tied for fourth in game winning drives in 2025. There are currently four quarterbacks that have yet to be unveiled, so by the players estimation, Darnold is the fifth best quarterback in the league (unless your name is Byron Murphy).
By my count, this will put Darnold at No. 5 among QBs on the list, only behind Allen, Mahomes, Stafford and Maye https://t.co/3964d8YgJY

What do you think? Is Darnold ranked to low? Too high? Or just right? Leave a comment and let’s discuss! As Darnold said in the video, MOB on three!
