Jordan Addison is entering a make-or-break season with the Minnesota Vikings , and the excuses are running out now that the franchise has upgraded things under center.
The Vikings signed former first overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray this offseason, giving Addison, along with All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson, a much-needed improvement at the quarterback position.
Both Addison and Jefferson had brutal years last season, forced to catch passes from J.J. McCarthy for most of the year, and while there's still technically an ongoing QB competition, it feels likely that Murray will win the starting job. That alone elevates Addison's ceiling in 2026.
Murray and Addison have already started to build chemistry together too. They reportedly spent the past two months training together in Dallas before arriving in Minnesota to get a jump on the 2026 season.

Minnesota let Jalen Nailor walk in free agency, who was responsible for 53 targets and 444 receiving yards last year. And while they did bring in Jauan Jennings to replace him, having another reliable pass catcher like that could only help Addison. Between Jefferson, Addison, and Jennings, and Murray's mobility, defenses can't afford to double-team or commit too heavily to any one option.
Addison played through a suspension and injuries last year, and his production took a big hit. He finished with just 610 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 42 catches across 14 games, all career lows. That's a notable dropoff from his 2023 rookie season, when he posted 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 70 catches, seeing over 100 targets.
Addison at one point looked like he was going to emerge as one of the NFL 's next elite wide receivers, then he fell off. 2026 is the year he puts it all together, and potentially sees his first Pro Bowl next to Jefferson in what everybody's expecting to be a resurgent year for Murray.
There's also financial pressure on Addison. Minnesota already exercised his fifth-year option, locking him in through 2027, but a big season would put him in position for a big payday down the line.
A repeat of last year, however, and the Vikings may start to question his long-term future altogether.
