The New York Yankees are pretty much always buyers at the MLB traded deadline, and that is the case again for the 2026 season.
The Yankees are in a battle with the Tampa Bay Rays for the AL East crown while also trying to hold off a surging Boston Red Sox team. With Aaron Judge and Giancarlo among those on the injured list, New York will be looking to add reinforcements for the final few months of the year.
While the Yankees have more offensive issues, they are a threat make any deal and be involved in any player. New York is a threat to add both big-name stars and under-the-radar contributors, making the Yankees one of the teams to watch this deadline season.
As the Yankees look to add to their roster, here's seven names they can consider ahead of the trade deadline.

Yankees trade deadline targets
Tarik Skubal, SP, Tigers
Skubal is potentially the best player on the trade market, which could lead to the Yankees looking to deal for him despite a strong rotation. Skubal would give New York an incredibly deep rotation along with Cam Schlittler, Max Fried and Gerrit Cole, and this deal would allow the team to make a starter a reliever and help the bullpen in that way instead of trading for a reliever.
Ryan Jeffers, C, Twins
In an underwhelming Yankees offense, Austin Wells has been the worst regular hitter with an OPS consistently in the .500s. Therefore, New York has been linked to Ryan Jeffers since earlier this year, especially since Jeffers won't cost as much as a rental. The veteran catcher would instantly slot into the middle of the Yankees lineup and limit Wells' playing time in a disappointing season.
Hunter Goodman, C, Rockies
Goodman is another catcher possibly on the market who is under control through 2029 and possesses massive power as a right-handed hitter. His defense isn't great, but New York could use him as a DH at times while Giancarlo Stanton remains sidelined. The Yankees likely won't be swayed by Goodman's strikeout issues and would fit right in with a homer-heavy offense.
Mason Miller, RP, Padres
The Yankees have been linked to Miller as they look to upgrade the bullpen for not only this year, but future seasons as well. Miller is the best closer in baseball and would give the Yankees a top-tier back of the bullpen alongside David Bednar, who is great but will be a free agent after the season. The Yankees and Padres are familiar trade partners, which could be a factor in negotiations.
Luke Weaver, RP, Mets
After signing with the Mets in the offseason, Weaver has been stellar and will be one of the top relievers on the market, Weaver was a key piece to the Yankees' 2024 AL championship team, so New York is comfortable with the pitcher, as Weaver even ended up as the closer by the time the '24 World Series arrived. He will cost a decent haul, but likely is one of the safer options for the Yankees this year.
Casey Schmitt, 3B, Giants
Schmitt has been one of the few bright spots for the San Francisco Giants this year, but he could bring them a haul considering the lack of right-handed hitters available. The Yankees desperately need right hitters with Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton injured, making Schmitt a logical fit. Schmitt's defensive versatility would help down the stretch as players get healthy on New York's roster.
Zach Neto, SS, Angels
While the Yankees have a few shortstop prospects for the future, the current options don't inspire much confidence. Enter Zach Neto, who's playing for a bad Los Angeles Angels team that will miss the playoffs once again.
