Mohamed Salah makes £34m contract U-turn
Mohamed Salah has left Liverpool.
The Egyptian King has been the main attacker for the Anfield outfit ever since he joined the club back in 2017.
At the time, hardly anyone expected the former Chelsea man to be as good as he was but, he managed to prove everyone wrong and forever cemented himself in Liverpool's history books.
His 50 + goal contributions during the 2024-25 campaign were one of the main reasons why Liverpool won the Premier League title and why they were so dominant in almost every game that they played in.
However, during the 2025-26 season, things just weren't right between him and Arne Slot which led to the 33-year-old mutually agreeing to terminate his contract a year early.
Since then, several clubs have been linked with a move for him but now, Salah seems to have performed a major contract U-turn.
Besiktas have withdrawn from contract negotiations with Mohamed Salah
Ever since it was announced that Salah was leaving Liverpool, several clubs and leagues have been linked with an interest in the attacker.
Most people thought that the Egyptian King would get a massive payday from Saudi Arabia and see out his career over there.
However, since that move didn't present itself, MLS and Turkish Super Lig teams emerged as the favourites with Besiktas leading the way.
Over the last couple of weeks, Salah's arrival in Turkiye has felt like a matter of when, not if.
In fact, it was even revealed that over the course of his two-year deal, Salah would receive around £34 million from Besiktas which is only £6 million shy of what he was earning with Liverpool.
However, Besiktas' football director Zeki Onder Ozen has now shared that his club have withdrawn from negotiations with the Liverpool legend due to the financial terms of the deal.
"We contacted Salah. This also involved a financing model. Salah is a global star, a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before the financial part of the negotiations began," he said in quotes relayed by A Spor .
"Up to this point, everything was flowing smoothly. When the financial side began, the initial smoothness slowed down from July 21st onwards.
"Requests started coming in that would both disrupt the flow of information and the financial side. I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this.
"Beşiktaş has withdrawn from the Salah transfer negotiations for now!
"I also know Beşiktaş's values. Upholding these values is important. Not deviating from the club's core principles is far more important than having a valuable athlete. The Mohamed Salah case is currently on hold for us."

Ramy Abass could be costing Mohamed Salah his move to Besiktas
Salah could still do a job in European football, especially for a team of Besiktas' calibre.
The Egyptian King may not have been in the best run of form last season but, he still contributed to 22 goals across all competitions.
In fact, some Liverpool fans are even wanting him to make a dramatic return to Anfield due to the issues they're facing finding a successor for him.
Of course, finding someone to fill a Salah-sized void is never going to be easy but, when Liverpool are being quoted over €170 million for Bradley Barcola who's contract expires in two years' time, it's clear that the market is incredibly inflated.
Salah's agent, Ramy Abass, has always been rather outspoken and, since the Egypt international is his only client, he'll obviously want a big payday for his last move.
But, if his demands end up costing Salah his move to another European side, some serious questions will need to be asked.
There's obviously no knowing what the future has in store for Salah but, unless they get a deal sorted soon, the attacker may end up joining a team for far less money than what he's worth.
