NBA insider reveals potential timeline for new Draymond Green deal
Following an unfruitful free agent period to this point, an NBA insider revealed a potential timeline for a new Draymond Green deal. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, a deal between both sides could be completed as soon as this week.
However, Fischer indicated that two types of contracts are still in play. Green could sign a one-year deal at a similar value ($27.7 million) to the player option he declined or a multi-year pact at a lower annual value. Either of these deals would be sensible for both parties. Although the Warriors' front office wants to limit guaranteed money in future seasons, there is mutual interest in having Green retire in Golden State. That said, a one-year deal could help the team reassess avenues to contend next summer, especially with Stephen Curry having yet to sign a contract extension.
