See the full story · 2 sourcesThe 2026 offseason was focused on where LeBron James would play an unprecedented 24th season in the league. The future Hall of Famer told the Los Angeles Lakers he would not return after eight seasons in LA and all eyes were on where James would go next.
Plenty of teams lined up for his services. Teams like the Philadelphia 76ers , Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat , Golden State Warriors, and others were hoping to land James. After weeks of deliberation and going back-and-forth, James decided on the Sixers.
Warriors star Steph Curry, a close friend of James, gave his thoughts on James choosing Philadelphia as he told The Athletic :
“That’s why you don’t envision anything until it happens,” Curry said Saturday from Moses Moody’s youth camp. “There’s a lot of moving parts.”
James spurned Curry and the Warriors, but will now look to help the Sixers reach the mountaintop for the first time since 1983. The Warriors would have been fun to watch with James and Curry running things, but it doesn't change the fact that James joining Philadelphia will be equally as impressive to watch.
