The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers kick off the 2026 preseason with their Hall of Fame Game clash on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC, and Week 1 of the preseason officially kicks off the following week on Aug. 13.
As we count down the days until the start of the NFL regular season — which kicks off with a Super Bowl LX rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football” on Sept. 9 — we continue to look at key offseason storylines for each of the league’s 32 teams.
This week, we’re looking as the players most in danger of being cut during the preseason, and we’ve arrived at the Seattle Seahawks.
Though Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a pretty serious injury suffered in the playoffs, the Seahawks running back room is still pretty crowded. Rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price will presumably take over the starting job (even when Charbonnet comes back), leaving George Holani, Kenny McIntosh, Emmanuel Wilson, and Jacardia Wright to battle it out for the RB3 job.
My money is on Wilson, who rushed for 50 yards and four touchdowns in 2024 and 496 yards and here scores last season, both with the Green Bay Packers. Wilson is solid enough he can split carries with Price until Charbonnet returns.
Holani and Wright are long shots to make the roster as well, but McIntosh will likely be one of the first RBs cut.

The Seahawks have one of the best 1-2 WR punches in the NFL in Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, and the addition of Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline in November only made it better.
Seattle has a number of depth receivers who do mostly the same thing competing for a limited number of roster spots.
There simply isn’t enough spots to go around for Tory Horton, Velus Jones Jr., Jake Bobo, Cody White, Irv Charles, Montorie Foster Jr., Rashad Rochelle, Ricky White III, and if I had to guess, I’d say three spots are available for Horton, Jones Jr., and White, meaning Bobo, who has never had more than 19 catches or 196 yards in any season, will likely find himself without a job soon.
The Seahawks are returning arguably the best defense in the NFL — one that is absolutely loaded at linebacker. Ernest Jones IV, Drake Thomas, Tyrice Knight, DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu, Derrick Hall, and Patrick O’Connell are all returning, meaning there’s bound to be some stiff competition to make the roster.
Jalan Gaines, Aidan Hubbard, Jared Ivey, Marvin Jones Jr., Connor O’Toole, Chris Paul Jr., Jamie Sheriff, Chazz Surratt, and Ja’Markis Weston are all competing for a limited number of spots. Surratt is 29 and contributed just 11 tackles in 11 games last year. He’s not much of an impact defender, and he will likely be let go to give more reps to younger players.
