Beau Greaves won the Women's World Matchplay for a record third time with a 6-5 last-leg victory over Fallon Sherrock at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. <p>After Sherrock forced the contest the distance, Greaves held her nerve with a crucial 180 before a brilliant 145 left 56 for the title. She coolly pinned double 10 to seal victory once again.</p><p>The win adds to Greaves' 2023 and 2024 triumphs in this tournament. She also hit a nine-darter on the Tour and became the first woman to qualify for the European Tour.</p><p>The win for Greaves consigns Sherrock to runner-up at the Women's Matchplay for a third year in a row, losing to Greaves in 2024 and 2026 plus Lisa Ashton in 2025.</p><p>"I'm not one to celebrate but it was relief in the end. Fallon is a great lass and an even better darts player. I knew I had to play well but to hit that last dart was an outpouring of relief," Greaves told <em>Sky Sports</em>.</p> <widget id="15"></widget><p>"Just so happy to win. I knew playing the women is a bit different because I play the men now. Chuffed just to get the win.</p><p>"I was nervous, but that kind of pressure is a privilege.</p><p>"I just love my life. love playing darts. I can't get enough of it. I'm addicted to it in a way and just love my life and even supporting the women's game is a massive thing.</p><p>"I love darts and it's good enough for me. My goal is to just play better."</p> <widget id="14"></widget><p>It was billed as a close and enthralling contest between the two most successful players in women's darts, and it certainly lived up to expectations on the Winter Gardens stage.</p><p>Sherrock made the brighter start to the final, breaking throw in the third leg. But, in typical Greaves fashion, she hit back immediately to restore parity at 2-2 before producing a sensational 120 checkout in a 12-dart leg to move ahead.</p><p>From there, the contest developed into a gripping nip-and-tuck affair. A tense eighth leg eventually went Greaves' way as she pinned double two to secure a crucial break of throw and move within one leg of the title.</p><p>Sherrock, however, refused to go down without a fight. Some superb scoring left her on 36 after just nine darts, and she wrapped up an 11-dart break of throw. She then followed it with a classy 70 checkout on double 16 to force a deciding leg</p><p>That was when Greaves found her brilliant best once again with a maximum then silky 145 leaving her 56 for the title. On 56, she took double 10 to ensure the trophy was coming home with her.</p> <widget id="1"></widget><h3><strong>Greaves' route to final: Brilliance and a battle! </strong></h3> <widget id="13"></widget><p>Greaves had to battle hard to make it into the final in a 5-4 nerve-wracking victory over Gemma Hayter.</p><p>Greaves got off to slow start and Hayter made sure to capitalise, levelling the game at 2-2 with a break of throw on tops and then finding another crucial break with an 83 checkout on double 16 to take the game to a last-leg decider.</p><p>However, just when she needed it, Greaves came through with a massive 104 checkout to book her spot in a third Women's Matchplay final.</p><p>Greaves made it through to the semi-finals with a 5-1 victory over Kirsi Viinikainen, starting in imperious fashion with a 148 then 144 checkout to get the contest going.</p><h3><strong>Sherrock route to the final: One leg dropped! </strong></h3><p>Ashton's title defence came to an end when she ran into a clinical Sherrock who pulled off a 5-1 win to make her third straight Matchplay final in a row.</p><p>Indeed, it was a replay of the 2025 Matchplay final, but this time Greaves was firmly in control. Having dropped just a single leg en route to the final, she sealed her place in the showpiece match by pinning double 16.</p> <widget id="12"></widget><p>Sherrock was also at her brilliant best in a 5-0 whitewash victory over Deta Hedman in the quarters, two 13-darters in a row the key as she gave the 'Caribbean Queen' no opportunities to counter attack and zero darts at the double.</p><p>Elsewhere, Hayter battled from 4-2 down to win a last-leg shootout against Vicky Pruim, overcoming some key errors to eventually pin a clutch 77 on tops for the match.</p><p>Meanwhile, the 'Lancashire Rose' Ashton began with a 5-2 win over Welsh No 1 Rhian O'Sullivan, a big 120 checkout for a break of throw the highlight before she eventually clinched the game with her ninth match dart.</p><h3>What is happening in the men's World Matchplay?</h3> <widget id="10"></widget><p>The 2026 Betfred World Matchplay continues at the iconic Winter Gardens on Sunday night, as defending champion Luke Littler takes on Gerwyn Price for the prestigious Phil Taylor Trophy.</p><p><strong>Who will win this year's World Matchplay Darts?
